Introduction
  • Information gathering over the past 18 months
  • I have arrived at the conclusion that we should
consider applying to have Foundation and Trust
    status
  • Worthing High School-1st FT School in WS
  • Many schools local and national applying and
    considering

4
Background information
  • SSAT Powerpoint presentation

5
What might F and T status mean for our Campus and
our School ?
  • Autonomy and Independence
  • Focus on our learning community and learners
  • To enable us to achieve and embed outstanding
standards and develop an outstanding reputation
  • In order to achieve the above we need the
autonomy and position to be proactive, decisive
and to steer our own course and to engage the
best brains and work within the best networks for
    our learners.

6
  • The current political and local environment
supports this direction indeed suggests it.
  • Other decisions by the LA could put us on an
uneven playing field, a playing field that could
put us at a disadvantage in the future i.e. BSF
at Bognor and academies all around and other
schools considering or already in F and T status
without any clear LA strategic guidance and
    support.
  • No clear LA strategic direction in general and a
vacuum of strategy at all levels in the LA
  • Our community status and reputation
  • Pressure from stakeholders most especially
parents to develop level 3 provision (i.e. post
    GCSE study provision)
  • Our developing reputation for curriculum
    development
  • The need to be proactive and determine our own
course in respect of what is best for our
learners in an environment where clusters for
schools are recommended. i.e. the need to be able
to network and federate where we need to for
learners not where others need us to for their
    organisational reasons

7
Do we want to make a statement of intent?
  • If we do we complete a form and send it to the
SSAT and start on the consultation process proper
this takes up to a year
  • In this time we would expect to approach trust
    partners

8
Consultation and process
  • Governing Body meeting as first step
  • At that meeting views of Governors, staff
    community
  • Not the beginning of the consultation just to
send a statement of intent, then the consultation

Q and A (hopefully answers that is)
