Title: Mechanical Integration and PDR Requirements Summary

1
Mechanical Integration and PDR Requirements
Summary
  • KSC TIM
  • May 1-5, 2000

2
Mechanical Integration
  • USS-02 Primary Interfaces defined for
  • SRD
  • TRD
  • Tracker
  • ACC
  • Lower TOF
  • ECAL
  • Magnet
  • USS-02 Primary Interfaces NOT defined for
  • RICH (Extremely Close, Agreed in Principle)
  • Electronic Crate Racks (Agreed in Principle)

3
PDR Requirements
  • The meetings this week were extremely productive
  • Most of the PDR data has been received or has
    been promised within one week

4
SRD
  • Note at PDR that the design of the SRD is
dependent upon the successful results from the
    PSRD flight

5
TRD
  • LM to provide FEM of USS-02 to J. Krieger
  • Interface Set

6
TRD Gas Resupply System
7
ACC
  • Interface Set

8
RICH
  • Load Factors to be modified for next iteration
  • Design to change to accommodate larger hole size
    (ECAL larger than RICH hole)
  • Mass Simulator will be provide to LM
  • Need to assess shaterable materials (smaller than
    .25 lbs and enclosed
  • P. Apollonia to provide bolt analysis and fail
    safe analysis
  • P. Apollonia to provide parts list vs. margin
    list
  • LM to perform MMOD assessment and provide debris
    shield for mirror (reflector)

9
TOF
  • Interface Set

10
Tracker
  • LM to change tolerance of inner cylinder to 1/-0
    mm
  • LM to provide 10 holes every 3 inches on Conical
    Flange ribs and Support Rings
  • Interface Set

11
Tracker Cooling System
12
Tracker Alignment System
13
ECAL
  • Interface Set May 1, 2000

14
Electronics Crates
  • Agreed to approximate orientation and arrangement
of crate racks (LM to propose interface)

15
Cryomagnet
  • All additional items covered in meeting and
    Action Items

16
Cryomagnet, Cont.
  • Extremely Productive Meeting
  • Action Items
  • OI to provide Design Report ASAP
  • LM to assess fracture issues
  • OI to provide presentation and drawings today
  • S. Harrison will provide updated cryogenic
    schematic by May 17
  • LM will include 10 bolt pattern inside the
support rings with a 6 inch spacing
  • S. Harrison will perform several new vent
    analyses for new arrangement
  • S. Harrison will find test data to correlate
analysis method (may have to perform test to get
    the data - TBD)
  • OI will review LM Vacuum Case drawings to assess
    port locations
  • OI will send sample bolts to LM for JSC Fastener
    Integrity Program
  • OI will send test data on strap tests
  • OI to work with LM on all welds including
    bi-metallic welds
  • LM to look into possibility of sending OI an
    Orbital Welder
  • OI will send LM information on rotating the
Vacuum Case for the close-out weld
