2Alg/Geo III (one credit) Grade 11-12
Prerequisite Alg/Geo II Alg/Geo III builds on
the concepts that were introduced in Alg/Geo II.
It covers the topics included in the grade 11
Ohio academic content standards for mathematics.
3Supplies Needed Every Day
- Math Textbook with a heavy duty book cover on it.
- Writing Utensil preferably pencil, but please
NEVER use red ink in this class - Paper that will fit in your notebook
4Supplies Needed Occasionally (Keep in your
locker)
- Compass
- Protractor
- Ruler with inches centimeters
- Basic Calculator (Trig keys will help!)
- (I have a class set of these items for you to
use in class, but you may not remove them from
the classroom. i.e. without them, how do you
finish your homework if it is incomplete at the
end of class?)

6Classroom Rules
- Use common sense before you say or do anything in
this classroom. If you do not believe Mrs.
St.Clair will appreciate what you say or do, then
please do not say or do it. - Please be on time to class.
- 2 tardies to class 15 min. detention after
school. - Tardy Distraction
- If you must be late thank you in advance for
being quiet, polite and non-disruptive.
7May you chew gum in my class?
8You may chew gum in my class as long as
- I do not see it or hear it.
- It does not end up stuck to anything or anyone in
the room. - It is disposed of properly in the trash can when
not in use. - If the above requests are not met, then there
will be no gum in this classroom.
9Refreshments in the Classroom
- Although it is never deemed necessary to have
gum, candy, or beverages (including water) in the
classroom, some teachers use these items as a
reward or earned privilege. - It is the students responsibility to know when
this is acceptable and when it is not. - Do not bring refreshments to school assuming it
is okay. - Always make sure trash is placed in the
appropriate receptacle.
10Water Bottles Only
- Please help with recycling plastic bottles I
will have a collection bag in my room. - You may bring water to the classroom
- Please do not bring any beverage to this
classroom that is not JUST plain, clear,
unflavored water. - If its not plain, clear water it doesnt
belong in this room will be dumped.
11Cell Phones and Other Electronic Devices
- Phones and all electronic devices must be turned
off and kept in your locker during the school
day. - Possession or use will result in confiscation.
- 1st confiscated and returned at the end of the
day - 2nd confiscated and returned to a parent only
when the parent has met with the principal to
pick it up - 3rd and every time after confiscated and
returned to a parent only after student has
served a Friday detention. - Electronic devices may be searched if violation
of other school rules are suspected .
12Grades
Progress Book is a phenomenal tool use it! I
will not print out your grade for you. You have
Internet access at the school do not abuse it
use it wisely. Keep yourself informed of your
grade daily or at least weekly. You may request
to use the student computers in my room in order
to check your grades on Progress Book at the end
of class, time permitting. You will need my
permission first. Please do not abuse this
privilege. Grades are based on the General Scale
listed in your Student Handbook.

14Homework
Homework matters! It accounts for 40 of your
grade. It is your practice for the course and it
will be assigned almost every day. It is usually
worth 5-10 points, but can be more. You MUST
show your work for full credit. If you copy the
problem and show your work on your homework, you
have created a perfect study tool to use on your
quizzes and tests. Use common sense when
deciding whether work is required or not.
15Homework in Class
Time will be given at the end of each class
period to work on homework as long as All
students cooperate with minimum distractions.
We complete the whole lesson in time. All
students utilize the given time to work on the
HW. Time will not be given at the end of each
class period as long as All students are not
cooperative and we have multiple distractions.
We do not complete the whole lesson in time.
Students abuse the time given by not starting
their HW.
16Homework Incentive
If your homework percentage is equal to a C or
higher, I will drop your lowest test score for
that grading period.
17Quizzes/Test
- Quizzes Tests are worth 50 of your grade
- You must show your work. Use common sense to
decide when this is necessary. If youre not
sure show it. Partial credit can only be
earned if you show your work. - Absolute quiet during tests. Do not talk or
distract or you will earn a zero. You may
quietly ask Mrs. St.Clair questions that pertain
to the test. Please do not ask to leave the room
during an assessment period. Mrs. St.Clair will
tell you when you may talk again, but it may not
be until the next day. ?
18Make-Up Work
- Check Progress Book for your assignments.
- Ask for your make-up work when you return!
- You have the same number of days to make up work
that you were out. - Struggling to get the make up work done? Ask
your teachers for help or an extension.
19Late Homework
- When absent, mark absent at the top of your HW
and turn it in. You are allowed 1 day late for
each day of excused absence for full credit. - When you are forgetful, lazy, not feeling well,
etc. and you do not turn your HW in on time -
Please do it and show your work. - 1. Write late at the top of your HW and turn
it in for partial credit. - (50 or less depending on the lateness)
- 2. I will accept late work for the current
grading period only. Cut off dates for late
work will be - posted on the chalkboard.
20Copied HW
- Please do not copy someone elses HW, this will
not prepare you for the Quiz/Test. - Please do not allow someone to copy your HW, this
will not prepare them for the Quiz/Test, you are
enabling them to fail. - Any violation of the above will result in a zero
for both people and a detention after school
peer-tutoring the copied assignment.
21Projects/Participation
- Worth 10 of your grade
- Projects are usually group work and a group grade
as well as an individual grade will be awarded. - There is one participation point for each day of
the school year for you to earn. You will earn
these points by following the rules, being on
time to class, modeling good behavior, using your
manners, being respectful, keeping your head up
and staying alert in class and participating in
discussions and board work, etc. - Incentive lose no more than 2 participation
points per grading period earn 10 bonus points
towards your homework grade.
22Projects/Participation
- I will not wake you up if you fall asleep in
class, however, you will lose your participation
point for the day. - If you choose to misbehave, distract, break
classroom rules, be late to class, earn a
detention, have unexcused absences, spend time in
EAP, sleep, not participate, have your head down,
are rude or disrespectful, etc. you will lose
your participation point for the day. - Progress book will have a notation for you/your
parent(s)/your guardian(s) to see the reasons why
you lost your participation points. - Ex sleeping, head down, tardy, earned
detention, not participating, rude,
disrespectful, not following rules, removed from
classroom, etc.
23Exams
- There will be a cumulative semester exam at the
end of each semester. - Each semester average is calculated from 40 1st
GP, 40 2nd GP, 20 Semester Exam. (Likewise for
2nd semester) - Final course grade is calculated from 20 each
GP, 10 each exam.
24Student Accountability
- Check Progress Book and be aware of your daily,
weekly, monthly grade. - Know when you are missing HW assignments by
checking Progress Book. - When you are absent, check on Progress Book to
see what you missed and turn it in. - Check your student folder before you sit down
daily to get information you need for class. - Ask me about your student folders.
25Fire/Tornado Drills
- Law requires periodic fire and tornado drills.
The purpose of these drills is to prepare the
student body for orderly procedures in the event
of an emergency. Instructions are posted
indicating the exits to use for fire drills, and
it is imperative that all persons move quickly
out and away from the buildings at the specified
exits.
26Tornado Drill
- The public address or bullhorn system will be
used to alert persons of the approach of
threatening weather or tornado drills. - Students will proceed, without talking, to the
shelter indicated for their homeroom and follow
the directions of their instructor. - Mrs. St.Clairs homeroom reports to the Teachers
Lounge - face inside walls without windows

27Fire Drills
- Signaled by Fire Alarm
- Follow instructions for the classroom you are in
at the time of the Alarm. (Where do we go?) - How do you know it is just a drill?
- Quietly exit the building, stay with your class,
find your teacher and listen for attendance. - Everyone must be accounted for!
28Lock Down
- Close and Lock all doors and windows.
- Turn off Lights and Computer Monitors.
- Move Quickly and Silently to protected area of
classroom. - Become INVISIBLE!
- What if its NOT just a drill? We are never
given that information.
