8Example of a Master project Energy sector
- Electricity infrastructure for wind power at sea
(Novem/Senter) - The Dutch government has ambitious plans for
developing wind power at sea. An open question is
how the thousands of megawatts of wind power will
be connected to the national electricity grid. Is
this the role of the national grid company TenneT
or should private parties make the investment?
Does government support of the development of
off-shore electricity infrastructure stimulate
the development of wind farms? This project
develops a framework for analyzing - the pros and cons of different designs of
off-shore electricity infrastructure, - different economic models for developing this
infrastructure, and - deciding who should be responsible for this
infrastructure.
9Example of a Master projectIndustry
- Decision Support Tool for operation management
in an industrial plant (GEP) - The process industry has to cope with a rigorous
competition. Appropriate strategies or action in
the area of inventory management, production
planning and scheduling can contribute to
survive. But how to estimate their effect
beforehand? - The project developed a framework - based on a
System Dynamic simulation of an internal supply
chain - to decide on - How to select most promising improvement options?
- What are the evaluation parameters which could
measure the influence of operational improvement
options with regard to the companys productivity
and competitiveness? - How would the identified evaluation parameters be
assessed quantitatively? - How to handle the uncertainty in and around the
production situation?
