• Remember we said that you can find virtually
  anything on the Internet.

REMEMBER

• ANYONE can publish ANYTHING to the internet.
• As long as an individual has a computer with
  Internet access they can publish to the Internet.
• You CAN NOT assume information found on the
  internet is accurate.

Identifying High-Quality Sites

• If you are using the Internet to research a
  topic, how do you know what information is
  trustworthy?
• You are the judge of whether or not a site is
  high quality.
• There are a few questions you should ask when
  trying to determine what sites are high quality.

What is the Purpose?

• Can you tell if the site is fact or opinion?
• Is it sponsored by any organizations?
• Is it clear who the intended audience is?
• Is the tone calm and fair?

Is the Author Trustworthy?

• Is the author identified
• Is the place where he/she works given?
• Was the site recommended by a site you trust?
• Does the author site his/her sources?
• Can you contact the Author?

Other Questions to Consider

• Is the website useful? Does it provide enough
  information?
• Is the information up to date? Does it give the
  date the site was last revised? Are the links
  active?
• Is the site easy to use? Easy to read? Is it
  clear and organized? Does the site load well?
