the Armor BearerThe Way of The Shepherd 2

Through the Pastor Christ is saying to His
church, I am with you even though I am not
    physically present

  • How does a female relate to a male pastor?

2
Submitting Protecting
  • 6) Submit to Him (1 Thes. 512-13)
  • Submission is more than obedience - it is a heart
    attitude
  • Hupotaso It is a Greek military term meaning to
arrange(troop divisions) in a military fashion
under the command of a leader. In nonmilitary
usage, it was a voluntary attitude of giving in,
    cooperating, assuming responsibility, and
    carrying a burden
  • Submission honors
  • Submission inquires - it asks what do you want?
  • It is diligent to find the commands
  • Submission listens
  • Submission carries out orders and wishes
  • Submission to leaders does not mean blind
    obedience and being controlled
  • 7) Protect Him (1 Chron 1110)
  • Surround him and his family as you would a King,
    pray for him
  • Honor his spouse and children
  • Fight against all gossip and slander
  • Forgive him

3
Giving Helping
  • 8) Give to him (1 Tim. 517-18 1 Cor. 97-12
    Phil. 410-20)
  • Give to him personally and not just through
    tithes and offerings
  • 9) Communicate with him (Gal. 66)
  • Encouragement - letters, emails, cards, etc.
  • Revelation
  • Do not just burden him with problems -
    communicate how God is moving
  • 10) Help and serve him practically
  • Look for areas of need
  • Be on call
  • Go the extra mile
  • Do not divorce your pastor. Do not forsake him.
    (2 Tim. 49-10)
  • 11 ) Be Sensitive to Your Pastor
  • He cannot focus on you alone
  • He cannot be God to you
  • He cannot be there every time you need them
  • He is a man - subject to weakness, temptation and
    tiredness

The Ministry of an Armor Bearer
  • This ministry is one of the greatest privileges
one can receive. An armor bearer is one who is
chosen to assist a mighty warrior in battle and
in preparation for battle. They are chosen
because of bravery and loyalty. They not only
bear armor but stand by them in times of danger.
An armor bearer rarely leaves a leaders side.
  • He has the privilege of learning how to be a
champion in close proximity to one. But it will
    also mean greater judgment.
  • An armor bearer carries a warriors armor
weapons into battle so that the warrior can be
    strong when he fights
  • A preacher does battle when he ministers
  • 1 Samuel 146-7 - They are one in spirit with
their leader. The armor bearer shares the same
vision as his leader. He is with him heart and
    soul
  • The armor bearer ministers personally to the
    leader. (1 Sam. 1618-23)
  • The armor bearer ministers the armor of God to
the warrior. Eph 610-18. In what way can he do
    this?
  • A shield bearer (1 Samuel 1741)
  • A leader may have many armor bearers depending on
the extent of his ministry (2 Sam 1815)
  • The ministry of the armor bearer calls for 100
countability and reliability. He must always be
    present and serving

5
The Ministry of an Armor Bearer II
  • There job is to serve, protect and guard in
season and out of season, in good times and in
bad. (1 Chron. 105). It is not just carrying
around a leaders bag. It is intense prayer and
    ministering prophetic revelation fighting with
the leader bearing the burdens of Gods armor
    and the people.
