Field Office Crisis Response Teams

• Consist of school counselors, school
  psychologists, and pupil personnel workers
  trained to assess crisis situations and respond
  appropriately to school communities
• Are deployed based on school need and the
  principals request

MCPS Employee Assistance Program

• Responds to staff in crisis so that they are
  prepared to support students
• Provides on-site individual and small group
  counseling
• Consults with administrators on issues related to
  staff support during and post-crisis

Manual

• A toolkit for staff in times of crisis

• Comprehensive manual with guidelines for
  preparedness, prevention, response, and recovery
• Resource CD with letter templates and mental
  health handouts
• Emergency protocol flip cards

Community Crisis Mental Health Partnership

• Coordinated mental health response for a
  large-scale crisis in a school or the community
• Appropriate preparedness and support before,
  during, and after a crisis
• Ongoing training for crisis responders in the
  Montgomery County crisis response model

• The demands of the crisis exceed the resources of
  MCPS
• There is a need for county mental health
  resources and community volunteers to provide
  additional support to a school. Partnership
  services are requested through the Department of
  Student Services

• Coordinates community resources, information, and
  volunteers
• Serves as a clearinghouse for community
  members/organizations that offer unsolicited
  assistance
• Provides free 24/7 Hotline for youth in crisis

• Coordinates governmental mental health assets,
  provides expert training, and evaluates MCPS
  students in crisis
• Provides, at no cost, 24/7, walk-in and phone
  consultation and crisis response for communities,
  adults, and students 240-777-4000
