EPAS Taking The Test
  • We gave the EXPLORE test on August 29th.
  • The teachers explained the purpose of the test
and what it could predict for them about the LEAP
    and the ACT.
  • The students were much more receptive to the test
once they understood that it had a definite
    purpose that affected their future.
  • The teachers were much more comfortable with the
test this year than in the past.

EPAS Sharing the Results
  • We received our scores at the end of October.
  • At the first part of November we met with the
    teachers to explain the results.
  • The 8th grade teachers shared the data with their
classes and explained how to read it. This was
    more meaningful to the students.
  • The data was sent home with the students to the
parents. Also, there were some parent conferences
    held to explain results.

EPAS Connecting Results To Practice
  • Our report data presented areas of weakness that
teachers could stress in the classroom.
  • Our teachers are working on correlating the
EXPLORE scores with the LEAP to determine which
    students need extra help.
  • Our school has implemented an after-school
tutoring program to work with students on the
skills on which they scored below standard.
  • I plan to incorporate the higher level skills
(20-23, 24-27) into instruction once the lower
    level skills are mastered.

EPAS Additional Comments
  • We clearly support the EXPLORE data and the
    lesson plans and activities.
  • Our portfolio needs more support in the
assessment area. We also are still developing our
    action plan.
  • Our portfolio is well organized, but we just have
a few gaps to fill in.
