2So, Is the planet warming up?
- According to past and recent weather forecasts,
as well as graphs, have shown that heat is
increasing by the year due to Carbon dioxide.
3Answer
- New weather patterns and a rise in natural
disasters suggest that the Earths climate is in
fact changing.
4Humans are a small part of global warming
- Through the use of fossil fuels and power plants,
humans have contributed heavily to the pollution
in the atmosphere.
5Global warming
- Causes
- Burning of fossil fuels
- Elevated amounts of carbon dioxide in the
atmosphere - Human influence , aerosol, exhaust gases in
automobiles
6Carbon dioxide
- Large amounts of carbon dioxide, which are caused
by burning fossil fuels and the reduction in
plant life, is one of the main causes of global
warming.
7Carbon Dioxide (continued)
- Vehicles, airplanes, machinery, factories and
other hazardous things cause Carbon Dioxide. - The only factories that doesnt cause Carbon
Dioxide are cotton growing factories.
8Cars
- Cars run on gasoline which burn and release
exhaust from the car. - The exhaust is made up of carbon dioxide gases.
9Cars (continued)
- We could slow down global warming by having our
cars maintained regularly. - Also if we find an alternate way to power are
cars we can slow it down.
10Airplanes
- Airplanes are another way of getting around that
uses fuel. - If we find another way to power airplanes we
could slow it a lot.
11Airplanes (continued)
- Airplanes are the second most producers of global
warming. - A lot of people fly because its faster to get
where you want go, but this uses a lot of fuel.
12Carbon Dioxide (continued)
- Carbon Dioxide will affect the oceans sea levels
and weather patterns. - It might even make a prematurely ice age due to
this green house effect.
13Atmosphere
- The atmosphere is filled with 21 oxygen, 78
nitrogen, and 1 argon .040 carbon dioxide 1
water vapor.
14Is there time to stop Global Warming
- Yes there is, but we have to take action now.
- We might be able to slow down if people do it all
together
15What can we do?
- It is going to take the government and
individuals to take some drastic measures and
effort. - The government are having meetings with high
producing carbon dioxide companies.
16What are the effects if we cant stop it.
- Some major effects are multi-century ice melts of
polar ice sheets, with rising sea levels, climate
changes with slowing of ocean currents, and loss
of glaciers which supply China, India, and South
America with fresh water.
17What individuals might believe
- 70 of Americans believe its possible to reduce
the effects of global warming. - Around 59 think their actions help the situation.
18What individuals might believe (continued)
- 35 are actually doing something about it rather
than thinking their actions are helping the
solution. - So we think that some of the people are really
trying.
19How much time would it take?
- We would think that it would take a lot of time
and effort to solve this problem globally. - It would involve people, countries, and
governments.
20How much money would we use?
- We might need about 100 million dollars from all
the people, including the government. - This would be a difficult task.
21Government meetings
- The government are having meetings with other
governments on how to stabilize green house
emissions. - For example, automobiles produce gas emissions.
22Reversing the problem
- Can global warming be undone?
- The World has been heating up since the last ice
age. - Fossil fuels only add about 10 of the total
amount of pollution today
23Are Humans a major cause of global warming?
- Humans only contribute about 10 percent of the
total pollutants in the atmosphere. - However the need for energy, has created a need
for power plants that create pollution
24Reversing the damage
- Through a collaborative effort between the
government and citizens the effects of global
warming would slowly but surely reverse
themselves. - Limiting the usage of vehicles that ran on fossil
fuels would also lower carbon dioxide deposits in
the atmosphere
25How do we reverse the damage?
- Through the use of higher efficiency vehicles
more eco friendly power plants and inexpensive
techniques we can start to reverse the damage
26Power plants
- Power plants contribute heavily to air pollution
- However through the use of a slurry system, that
filters exhaust fumes. The total amount of
pollution entering the atmosphere is greatly
limited.
27Public transportation
- Public transportation helps reduce emissions by
having less vehicles on the road at anyone time. - Some forms of public transportation are also
starting to switch to higher efficiency power
trains as well as hydrogen powered. - Public transportation is also cheaper
28Vehicle advancement
- Through the advancement in automotive technology
we have been able to create vehicles that dont
need fossil fuels. - The Honda FCX for example uses a complex system
of hydrogen fc stack which converts hydrogen in
the air into oxygen and water ZERO emissions
29Is Global warming a worldwide scam?
- Many nations around the world believe that global
warming is something that nations like the United
States created in order to scare people into
buying less fuel and more eco friendly cars.
30Power plants (continued)
- The Government might also be trying to fix itself
to a small degree by creating more of an
incentive for people to buy fuel efficient cars
as well as hydrogen and electrical powered cars.
