Overview

• In the past
• Could not receive calls
• ?UMS number 030 prefix has been used
  temporarily
• Mainly IP-to-PSTN outbound calls only
• Now Future
• Can request IP Telephone numbers from ITSP and
  Operator now that 070 prefix number is allowed
• Can enjoy Nation wide Single call area with
  reasonable price

TTAs Role

• In order to get 070 numbers, ITSP operators
  MUST achieve TTA Certification for Internet
  Telephony QoS
• TTA requires Internet Telephony Service of each
  ITSP or operator at least that
• ITU-T G.107 R value be above 70 (MOS 3.6)
• End-to-end delay be less than 150ms
• Call successful rate be more than 95
• Certification status (2005. 3.15)
• 8 Special category telecommunications operator
  achieved TTA certifications
• 4 operators among them already acquired 070
  numbers
• Quality assessment will be carried out for
  common carriers

Follow-up schedule

• Obstacles
• Interconnection issues among common carriers
  and special category operators
• Specific charging rates
• Until July this year
• expect general agreements to be made in early
  April, 2005
• Interoperability tests will be carried out by
  TTA
• In July 2005, Korean people will see
  high-quality lower price pure internet
  telephony service on.
