TCT (Scotland) Ltd
  • Presenting the Heatwell Electric Combination
    Storage Boiler Range.
  • We heat homes with clean safe electric power.

2
Market
  • TCT developed the Heatwell range of boilers to be
a controllable alternative to storage heaters,
taking advantage of the cheap electric power
    tariffs such as -
ScottishPowers Economy 2000 or Scottish Hydros
    Comfort Plus.
  • With the recognition of the need to utilise
renewable energy, our boiler being a storage
boiler, lends itself to making use of any
    available energy source.

3
Product Why a Heatwell Combination Boiler?
  • Easy installation as no flue is required, and all
    valves are factory fitted.
  • Very little maintenance required
  • Excellent performance with low running cost.
  • Very safe, No explosion or gas poisoning risk.
  • Scottish based company if you require assistance
    with any problem.
  • Fully approved by BEAB, WRC WRAS
  • Sealed system reduces risk of frost damage, no
cistern or expansion tank in loft. Shower is
mains water powered with an excellent flow rate.

4
Why a Heatwell Boiler? Continued
  • Boiler electric heating elements are low watts
density, which means they are very quiet running.
(the boiler can be sited in a bedroom cupboard)
  • Because the heating elements are low watts
density they are liable to last for a very long
    time!!
  • Cheaper for Landlords no need for annual
    certification.
  • Boiler can be supplied in stainless steel for
areas where the water is very aggressive to other
    metals.
  • Boiler is over engineered for long life and
    reliability.
  • In summer weather, or when heating is not
required, the boiler can be operated as a water
heater only. As well as disabling the heating
elements it also reduces the temperature of the
    store to 60Deg C.

5
Being Electric it must be Expensive to Run!
This is not the case
  • Electric power is usually more expensive, but
when you consider that a boiler using an external
heat source wastes heat out of the flue and
becomes inefficient with age, the cost starts to
    level out.
  • Maintenance costs are much lower in an electric
    boiler, further reducing cost.
  • The electric boiler is more expensive to
purchase, but will last twice as long due to the
option of a stainless or copper tank.

6
How Does the Boiler Work?
The main outer tank (domestic hot water) acts as
a thermal store to supply heat to the inner
central heating tank. This enables the heating
system to maintain the temperature in the house
while the power is off during the peak
period. When the power is restored, heat
transfers in the other direction from the
concentration of elements, quickly restoring the
heat in the domestic hot water and the central
heating. There is also a switch to shut off the
central heating elements and reduce the boiler
temperature to 60DegC. in summer
7
Is the boiler user friendly?
  • The Heatwell boiler doesnt have an array of
confusing controls, it has only one and that can
be left in position 2 for the life of the boiler.
It even vents any air out automatically.

8
How will the renewable energy sources work with
the combination boiler?
  • Energy sources are either electricity -(wind
    generator or hydro). - Hot
    water - (solar or geothermal)
  • The combination boiler because its designed to
store heat will accommodate both by electric
    element and coil respectively.

9
How will you know a Heatwell Boiler is using a
renewable energy source?
  • In the middle of winter with a cold wind blowing
the snow along and a power cut due to the lines
being down. Look for the house with the wind
generator on top, all the lights and heating on.
  • That will be the wind generator powering the
heating pump to take the heat from the boiler
store, also to supply the power for the lights.
  • We forgot to mention the smile on the
householders face The power is free!!
