About SWAD

• SWAD was started by a few dedicated women in the
  rural area of Puri district, Orissa in the
  year,1989.
• It works in the field of socio-economic
  development of marginalized community, women
  empowerment, disaster preparedness and management
  program, livelihood promotion, gender equity and
  water sanitation.
• It aims to create an equitable, egalitarian, just
  and harmonious society with holistic development
  of women and marginalized community.

Objectives

• To built the capacity of the community for
  spearheading the process of development.
• To develop the effective mechanism for greater
  participation and ownership of women in
  development process and reduce the gender
  disparity and social victimization
• To enhance quality of life through providing
  reproductive child health, safe drinking water
  and sanitation.

Our Beliefs

• Poverty, powerlessness and inequality can be
  eliminated by collective effort and effective
  development process.
• A just and equitable society can be envisaged by
  empowerment of women and greater participation of
  the community.
• Inequality can be significantly reduced
  providing equitable access to basic need and
  rights, transparency and capacity of the
  stakeholders.
