Outreach at CIOSS occurs in three forms Outreach
to the Scientific Community

• Workshops for training and to develop guidance to
  NOAA for future satellite missions
• GOES-R HES-CW The COAST members are developing
  specifications and algorithms for the HES-CW
  the Coastal Waters Imager.
• Ocean Vector Winds (OVW) Evaluating future
  polarimetric OVW techniques vs scatterometry.

Formal Education The SMILE HS Program Developing
materials for high school science clubs and a
state-wide High School Challenge. Pictured are

mitigation plans using remote sensing, mapping
and models.
Informal Education Interactive Displays for
Science Museums
A PhD student in the OSU Informal Education
program is designing interactive displays to
demonstrate satellite data use in marine science
at the Hatfield Marine Science Center, along the
Oregon coast.
