TF SARG MISSION

• Conduct post mobilization small arms training
  at 1A MTCs
• Provide comprehensive up-to-date training from
  SMEs

TF SARG BACKGROUND

• Pre 9/11/01 USARCs marksmanship training TPU
  (SARG) consisted of 46-Soldier TDA (commanded by
  USAR O-6)
• Post 9/11/01 FORSCOM and First Army
  recognized the need for SMEs to conduct post
  mobilization small arms marksmanship training at
  MTCs
• MAR 2003 39 x USAR TPU SARG Soldiers plus /-
  60 additional USAR SMEs were mobilized to
  support First and Fifth Army MTCs, organized as
  ad hoc provisional Bn
• Post MAR 2003 1A SARG grows using OWTs and
  attached SMEs to meet First Army mission
  requirements
• APR 06 Army approves USARCs SARG TDA growth
  from 46 to 402
• OCT 2006 First Army organizes all
  marksmanship SME Soldiers mobilized to First Army
  as a task force named Task Force SARG with auth
  strength of 186, separate from USARCs TPU SARG
  of 402 Soldiers
• JUL 2007 USAR Regional Training Centers
  (RTC) begin standing up to conduct pre-mob
  marksmanship training
• Present First Army maintains post-mob
  marksmanship training mission and assists USARC
  with pre-mob training mission within capability
