Photos should vary in size and shape
  • One photo should be dominant on the page (One
larger photo is better than two smaller ones)
  • Mix up horizontal and vertical photos

4
Crop a photo to enhance focal point eliminate
the unnecessary
  • Get rid of extra around the edges of a photo that
    is unneeded.

5
Avoid cropping body parts
  • Dont cut off someones foot or arm

Tips for Writing Captions
  • Good captions should be able to stand alone
  • Include the facts of the event who, when,
    where, and what
  • However, avoid telling the reader what they can
tell by looking at the picture
  • Must fit within the space of the photo
  • Use present tense to describe the action in the
    photo

7
More Tips
  • Identify everyone who can clearly be seen in the
    picture
  • Vary your captions
  • Add a personal voice by including a quote
  • Remember the photo credit

    school play.

brought in the winning run in the regional
championship game. This was Wrigleyvilles first
    championship in 12 years.

    volleyball.

    such as streets and parks.
