  • Because of too many differences, the Carolinas
    split into two colonies and became two colonies
    in 1729

    and good harbor
  • Began to grow rice in 1680s
  • Required much labor
  • Demand for slaves increased
  • Growing Indigo started in 1740s
  • Blue flower which is used for blue dye
  • Became blue gold of South Carolina

Georgia
  • Founded in 1733
  • General James Oglethorpe received charter
  • Place for debtors and poor to make fresh start
  • Banned slavery, Catholics, and rum
  • British used it as protection for other colonies
    against Spanish attack
