    DfES/Department of Health guidance on working
    with pupils with medical needs and guidance on
    educational visits.

  • All visits should be pre-planned, including
    appropriate risk assessment and exploratory
    visits to venues in most cases
  • Everyone managing the visit, including volunteers
    and parents/carers, needs to understand
    appropriate practice and procedure
  • All relevant staff at a place visited should be
    aware of the individual needs of pupils
  • Err on the side of caution.
