1A New Program for New Leaders San Francisco
State University is pleased to announce the
launch of its exciting new Doctor of Education
(Ed.D.) in Educational Leadership beginning in
Fall, 2007. In a program designed for working
professionals who have demonstrated leadership in
administration or policy, students will
study in cohorts attend part-time on
weekends complete the program in three
years learn from a distinguished
multidisciplinary faculty examine central
issues in P-12 community college leadership
2Focused on Growing Needs The program grows out
of a rigorous analysis of growing needs
documented through regional and statewide
staffing demands in community colleges and
P-12 school districts prominent statewide
and national policy documents recent
research literature on P-12 and community college
leadership issues our community
partners in the P-12 and community college
systems
3Unique Curriculum Developed in consultation
with community partners and based on best
practices, the curriculum is unique in that
it is taught by a multidisciplinary faculty
drawn from multiple colleges and
departments throughout the university
emphasizes instructional leadership and
curricular understanding on the part of
educational leaders focuses seriously on
issues of educational equity, the needs of
diverse learners, and the politics of
education integrates the learning of research
methodology within other content, as opposed
to purely self-contained methods

Colleges The program focuses simultaneously on
preparing P-12 Leaders Community
College Leaders Instead of operating two
separate programs on different tracks to address
these important dual needs, we offer an
integrated curriculum with common core
courses that provide breakout strands as
needed team teaching or modular instruction
by faculty with P-12 and community college
expertise involvement of community partners
as adjunct faculty

- Acceptable baccalaureate and masters degree
- Cumulative grade point average of at least 3.0 in
upper-division graduate study combined - Good standing at the last institution of higher
education attended - Educational Leadership
- Evidence considered in the admission process
- Graduate Record Examination (GRE) scores
- Three letters of recommendation attesting to the
leadership scholarship potential - A written statement of purpose on challenges
facing public schools or community colleges in
California. - Students whose applications meet the requirements
listed in 1-5 may be invited for a personal
interview.

- Two (2) sets of official transcripts from all
post-baccalaureate programs attended. - Calculate your GPA for your last 60 units and
