The Question

There are many different types of economic
systems that countries around the world use.
The three major systems are Market Economy,
Command Economy, and Mixed Economy. What are
the characteristics of these systems, and how
are they different from one another?

The Task
You are President Bushs Chief of Staff.
Just recently Fidel Castro passed away and the
United States is now taking action in the
placement of a new president in Cuba. Cubas
past economic system has been a strong command
economy. President Bush does not want to see
that trend continue. The president has asked you
to go to Cuba and educate the people on the three
types of economic systems to determine which type
will work best for them. The Cuban citizens will
be voting on a new president and all citizens
must be prepared to vote for a candidate that
meets the needs of the citizens.

  • Write a news paper article explaining each of
    the three types of economic systems, along with
    your personal recommendation at the end for Cuba
    in the end. The article will be posted in the
    Cuban newspaper. Due to the lack of education in
    Cuba, the article must be worded so it is easily
    understood.

Summarize each of the three economic systems and

opinion on what type of economic system
should be implemented
in Cuba. Make sure you give details
according to your

errors. If there are more than 20 errors

How can we be labeled the same, but in
actuality be so different
  • If you truly look at the definition of a mixed
    economy, you will see that the United States and
    China both use this system. Do you believe that
    our economic systems are alike? Create a Venn
    Diagram to compare and contrast the two countries
    economies. Use the web sites below to get
