11Time Reporting MethodsOverview Definition of
Terms (1 of 2)
- Elapsed Time The employee only records the
duration of hours worked. Example 8 hours of
VAC, 8 hours of SICK - Punch Time The employee must report all arrivals
and departures with an exact time every day. As
an example, the employee reports for work on
Monday at 8 AM, leaves for lunch at noon, returns
at 1 PM and departs for the day at 5 PM.
Reported Punch Time can be entered by the
employee or defaulted to the Computers time via
Web Clock. - For Vacation, Sick, and other non Worked TRCs,
the Punch employee must also have access to
Elapsed Time in order to record these hours.
12Time Reporting MethodsOverview Definition of
Terms (2 of 2)
- Exception Time The employee only records entries
when they differ from their Normal Scheduled
Hours. Typically an employee is scheduled for 5
days at 8 hours of Regular pay. - When the employees hours deviate from the Normal
Scheduled Hours, only the differences need to be
recorded. i.e. Vacation, Sick, Jury duty, etc. - The employees pay is based on the Normal
Scheduled Hours and any exceptions reported by
the employee. - If the employee records nothing, then pay is
based on the Normal Scheduled Hours and the
employee is automatically paid. - Exception Time is mutually exclusive from
Positive Time. - Positive Time The employee must report all time
in order to be paid. No payments are made
automatically. - Positive Time is mutually exclusive from
Exception Time.

14Elapsed / Exception Characteristics
- Employee only records exceptions to their Normal
Schedule - Only exceptions get keyed (Vacation, Sick, Jury,
etc) - Time Labor pays according to fixed schedules
- Schedules are required (Setup issue)
- Employees can override Scheduled Time
- Exception Time
- Work Order / Project entry
- Time Reporting is not required in order for
employee to be paid

day worked in order to be paid - Punches are in Real Time for Ins and Outs
- Significant activity Per Employee/Per Day/Per
Work Order - Web Clock reduces the number of keystrokes, not
the number of times that the employee must record
in Time and Labor
18Punch / Positive Time ReportingWeb Clock Entry
Option 1 of 3
19Punch / Positive Time ReportingEmployee Entry
Option 2 of 3
20Rapid Data Entry CharacteristicsOption 3 of 3
- Closely parallels current Legacy process
- Fits best for employees with
- No personal workstations
- No access to kiosks
- Computer literacy issues
- Employees forward their paper time cards to a
central location - Punches are actuals from the time card for Ins
and Outs - Significant activity Per Employee/Per Day/Per
Work Order multiplied by the number of employees
coming into a TKL - Due to centralization that comes with Rapid Data
Entry, every supervisor approved timecard is
revisited during the entry process
21Rapid Data Punch Entry Time Reporting Data Entry
