and 8 ounces and was caught in Maryland.
3The Rockfish has an olive green back, fading to
light silver on its sides, white underside, and
seven to eight dark stripes from its head to its
tail.
4The Rockfish is the official fish of the state of
Maryland.
5The Rockfish has two Scientific names. Its first
scientific name was Roccus Saxatilis, and now its
scientific name is Morone Saxatilis.
6The Rockfish looks like a rock or a stone and is
also called the Striped Bass.
7The Rockfish is considered to be the most
valuable fish in Maryland waters.
8Its habitats are reefs and rocks in the Pacific
Ocean.
9The Rockfish is a member of the Scorpio fish
family and it is also its enemy.
10It lays its eggs in fresh water.
11The Rockfish lives up to 157 years and weighs up
to 60 pounds and sometimes 40-50 pounds. Its
length is usually 36 inches long (3 feet).
