STATUS OF EXTENSION REFORM

• All Institutional arrangements have been made
  operational by all the States covered under the
  group except operationalization of SAMETI in
  Assam.
• Implementation State Work Plans 2007-08 is in
  progress in both existing as well as new ATMA
  districts of all the States except Assam, wherein
  release of fund is held up for want of Audited UC
  for the year 2005-06.

  (TDTD)
• In case of Banana Production, Assam ranks sixth
  position in the country with an annual production
  of about 7.00 lakh MT.
• The pseudo-stems of Banana being targeted for
  commercial exploitation through extraction of
  Banana fibre to augment farmers income.
• The required machineries are being provided to
  Banana Growers Societies and series of trainings
  are being organized in the districts of Morigaon,
  Kamrup, Goalpara and Kokrajhar.
