  separation of business functions from application
  server
• Portlets are the driving concept to deliver
  reusable web functionality

Requirements for using the Portal

• Need a LONI Account LDAP Enabled
• Need a Grid Certificate Request a cert
  (procedure explained in the next slide)

Request An Account

• To request a LONI account please visit
  https//allocations.loni.org/login_request.php

Request a Cert

• To request a LONI user certificate, issue the
  following command on the shell from any of the
  LONI Machines (ducky, bluedawg, zeke, neptune and
  lacumba)
• grid-cert-request
• You should then mail the usercert_request.pem
• cat HOME/.globus/usercert_request.pem mail
  ca_at_loni.org
• NOTE ALL the CA REQUESTS will be handled by
  ca_at_loni.org
• If you have problems requesting / setting up
  certificates contact sys-help_at_loni.org
• On receiving the signed certificate from the CA
  Admin, copy into your .globus location as
  follows
• cp youname_signed.pem HOME/.globus/usercert.pem
• For Instance cp jack_signed.pem
  HOME/.globus/usercert.pem

Retrieving Credentials into Portal

• Initiate myproxy from one of LONI machines
• myproxy-init s proxy01.hpc.lsu.edu
• Set up a temporary password
• Retrieve the credential into the portal using
  Credential Retrieval Portlet
