- Learn everything you can about yourself and
- the career you are interested in.
- What are you passionate about?
- Work in the field you are interested in while you
go to school. - Shadow people in the career you are interested
in. - Find out the job placement rate for careers you
are considering. You wont want to live with mom
and dad forever.

- Primary focus is first earning an undergraduate
degree. - Attending school fulltime (12 credits per
semester) you can usually earn a undergraduate
degree in four years. - Universities offer a wide variety of majors.
- Entrance requirements vary by school.

- Do they offer the degree I want?
- Are they in-state, out-of-state, public, or
private? - Will I qualify for the Bright Futures
Scholarship? - Are they offering me scholarships?
- What will the total costs be?
- Is the school the right size for me?
- Who is the school accredited by?

8State College or Community College
Associate of Arts 22 Who is this degree right
for? Students who want to transfer to a
university or college to pursue a bachelors
degree. Guaranteed acceptance to a state
university. If you transfer, you will be judged
on your performance at the State College or
Community College. Open admission to the A.A.
program.
9Associate in Science
- Who is this degree right for?
- Students who want to have the option to enter
a professional or technical field in two years
and in many areas still have the opportunity to
continue on to a bachelors degree. - Some programs are open admissions and some are
limited access.
10Technical School
- Primary focus is getting you trained for a job
with a specific skill set, such as Welding,
Electrician, Cosmetology, Dental Assistant, EMT,
Aviation Mechanic, etc. - May provide you with a certificate of completion
or some type of certification or license. - Things to consider
- - Accreditation
- - Cost
- - Local need for the skills taught

- When should I apply?
- The earlier in your senior year the better!
- Most Florida State Universities have already
accepted a majority of their students by December
