cco Vanzetti Project 2002 75 Years Since the
Execution
  • This web site has documentary material which is
intended to raise awareness of the case and its
outcome. Its main purpose is to teach the public
about the case and its impact on society.

tmlSacco-Vanzetti Case, by Robert DAttilio
  • This web site is a reliable assessment of the
events precending and following the trial. It is
from a neutral perspective, explaining that there
are different theories of Sacco and Vanzettis
    innocence.

Commonwealth of Massachusetts versus Sacco and
Vanzetti The Ballistic Evidence
  • This web site has an interesting account of
interviews during the trial between the
prosecution and two ballistics experts. The
conclusion from this reading is that Sacco and
    Vanzetti are most likely innocent.

Tying it All Together
  • In Freshman Forum, our class learned about the
impacts and correlations between the play M.
Butterfly, the Sacco and Vanzetti case, and the
aftermath of September 11th. In M. Butterfly,
the east was looked at as strange and
untrustworthy. For the west, Communism was
something to be feared in China, and that fear
can be seen as being carried over into the Sacco
and Vanzetti case. This trial took place during
the Red Scare, and many people were afraid of the
domino effect (spread of Communism). The main
players were Italian immigrants who were feared
because of their radical anarchical political
views. These two historical events relate to what
has been going on in the United States post 9/11.
The terrorists had radical views they claimed in
the name of Islam. Now there is racial profiling
and prejudice against many Muslims because of the
ideas of a few radicals. We should learn from
history and realize that stereotyping the views
of a small percentage of one group as the
overwhelming views of the entire entity is wrong.
We should be able to apply what we learn from the
past to prevent future unfortunate incidents.
