insecticides (8/12/08) - Broward County and part of Palm Beach County
- Western flower thrips has developed resistance to
the active ingredient spinosad - Resistance caused by long growing season and
rapid reproductive cycle of thrips - Suspension necessary to preserve this important
family of insecticides - Cooperative education program on IPM, including
proper insecticide rotation

Thrips 101 By Joe Funderburk There are about
5000 described species of thrips (insects in the
Order Thysanoptera). Most feed on fungi and live
in leaf litter or on dead wood. The species that
feed on higher plants occur mostly in the Family
Thripidae. This family includes the important
pest species.
