duraskin - the durable skin PES/PVC
Topcoatings Most architectural PVC polyesters
have some sort of topcoating applied to their
exterior or weathering surface. The topcoating
improves the appearance of the material, extends
its life. The thickness of topcoatings has a
direct relationship to the longevity of the PVC
membrane. Topcoatings will degrade over time
leaving the PVC surface exposed to airborne
pollutants, UV degradation, wind and weather. The
presence of a topcoat also inhibits the migration
of the plasticizers that give PVC its elastic and
flexible properties. Migration and degradation of
the seplasticizers cause the PVC to become
brittle, to blister and delaminate.

• What PVDF stands for?
• Polyinylidene fluoride (PVDF) is made of 59
  fluorine, 38 carbon and 3 hydrogen. The
  compatibility of the carbon fluorine is such
  that it offers a resistance to UV degradation and
  atmospheric chemical attack.

PTFE Coated Glass Fabric

• What PTFE stands for ?
• PTFE is the abbreviation for polytetrafluoroethyle
  ne.
• It is a frequently specified material due to its
  excellent life expectancy of 35 years, depending
  on conditions.

PTFE Coated Glass Fabric

• PTFE membrane has broad chemical compatibility,
  excellent particle retention
• The PTFE coating is chemically inert, capable of
  withstanding temperatures from -73C to 262C
  .The low surface free energy of the material
  creates a surface which is readily cleaned by
  rainwater. It is also completely immune to UV
  radiation. This unique combination of inertness,
  thermal stability and surface properties make
  PTFE coatings ideal for products requiring
  superior weather and fire resistance.
• Behaves elastically and does not undergo
  significant stress relaxation or creep.

Choosing the Right Material

• There are specialized laboratories in the world
  to carry out the tests required to prove any
  given characteristics from the manufacturer.
  (Fire resistance test, biaxial tests, uniaxial
  test, etc...)
