Accelerate Online Program

• The Texas AM University Accelerate Online
  Certification Program is an innovative approach
  to preparing secondary teachers.
• Secondary Certification (8-12) may be obtained
  in
• Life Science
• Physical Science
• Chemistry
• Science
• Mathematics
• History
• Social Studies
• English Language Arts and Reading

Pre-Requisites for Applicant

• Holds or within one year of completing a
  baccalaureate degree
• GPR requirements
• Minimum 2.5 overall GPR in baccalaureate degree
  OR
• Minimum 2.75 GPR on last 60 hours of
  baccalaureate degree OR
• Minimum 3.0 GPR on advanced degree
• Must meet all course requirements determined by
  in-depth transcript review

Selection Process Admission to Program

• Meet all Pre-requisites
• Submit Application
• Interview with Accelerate Team
• Complete TExES Practice Exam Diagnostic
  Provided
• Pass TExES Content Exam
• Attend Program Orientation

Preservice Phase of Program Online Instruction

• Develop ePortfolios Add Artifacts throughout
  the Program
• Complete 31 Online Instructional Modules
  clustered by strands
• Designing Instruction
• School Classroom Environment
• Technology Applications
• Professional Roles Responsibilities

Preservice Phase of Program Early Field
Experience

• Gradual induction into teaching provided through
  a structured Early Field Experience
• Four consecutive weeks in a classroom
• Mentored by experienced teacher
• Design, teach and reflect on lessons

Internship Induction Year

• Secure teaching position in Texas Public School
• Participate in a Professional Development
  Workshop that includes
• Fred Jones Classroom Management System
• Lesson Design and Implementation
• Appropriate Conduct for Beginning Teachers
• Provision for strong mentoring and supervision
  throughout Internship year
• Pass TExES PPR Exam for Standard Certificate
• NOTE Accelerate Online Interns have been placed
  in over 50 Texas Public School Districts.

• 5000 scholarships awarded to Interns who gain
  employment and continue in a partner district for
  up to three years
• Program designed to assist districts by
  increasing the quality of teaching and improving
  the retention of new teachers
