6Login to the NDLR
- Contact your institutional rep for NDLR account
details. - Go to http//www.ndlr.ie/
- Choose NDLR Repository link
- Choose Proceed to Login link
- Log on to the NDLR
- Fill in your profile details (name, email
address, institution) - Accept the usage policy
7Using the NDLR
- Browse Library
- Browse Objects by choosing a taxonomy on the left
i.e. JACS - Choose a subject area
- Learning resources on right hand side
- Alternatively use Search
- Or use Advanced Search choose a constraint
i.e. title, keyword
8Preview or Download Resources
- Find a learning resource
- Then choose the green icon to preview this
object - Choose View Metadata
- Who created the resource?
- Choose Download Options
- Copy the link location
- Download the resource to your computer

- Select comments and ratings

34Editing/changing Learning Resources
- To edit the Learning Resource you will have to
identify the file format - Identify the file format of the Learning Resource
- PDF files can be edited and changed with Adobe
Distiller. Alternative methods of editing PDF
text copy and paste the text into word ask the
author for a word version of the file. - Images, image editing can be done in tools as
simple as MS Paint. Other more high powered tools
are Photoshop, Fireworks, and Paint Shop Pro. - PowerPoint, edit with MS PowerPoint
- HTML edited in notepad, FrontPage,
DreamWeaver. - Unknown file formats If you do not know how to
edit the file, please look at the metadata to
find more information. Alternatively contact the
author of the file for instructions on editing
and repurposing the learning object.
