  • Asks only for information related directly to the
    program
  • Pre-tested with member facilities and revised

Cover Page
  • What Are We Asking For?
  • Background information on the report
  • Why Are We Asking For It?
  • To facilitate report review and display
  • Tips
  • The P-Track On-Line system will pre-populate your
    report to the extent possible.
  • Dont know your facilitys Performance Track ID?
    See www.epa.gov/performancetrack/particip/alphabe
t.htm and click on your facilitys report. See
the URL. Your ID is the 7-digit number
    beginning with A (e.g., A09-0015).

Reporting
  • What Are We Asking For?
  • A summary of a facilitys public outreach and
    performance reporting activities conducted during
    the year.
  • Why Are We Asking For It?
  • Interaction with the public on environmental
issues is an integral component of the program.
  • Tips
  • To distribute your report to the public, you may
use a method appropriate for your facility (e.g.,
consistent with your other outreach methods).
  • Feel free to provide a link to your report posted
    on Performance Tracks website.

    to (617) 354-0463.

11
Section C Environmental Performance Commitments
  • What Are We Asking For?
  • Quantitative measurements of progress made
    towards environmental performance commitments
    made
  • Actual and normalized data
  • Descriptions of activities that led to, or
    delayed, progress
  • Why Are We Asking For It?
  • To understand and show facilities individual and
    collective environmental achievements while
    participating in the program.
  • To demonstrate the environmental merits of the
    Performance Track initiative.

12
Section C Performance Commitment TablesTips
  • You need only complete the columns for
  • -- Baseline (use data from your application)
  • -- Performance commitment (use data from your
    application)
  • -- Year 1 (2001 data)
  • Calendar years
  • -- Baseline 1999 or 2000 (depends on facility
    and date of application)
  • -- Year 1 2001
  • -- Performance commitment 2003

13
Section C Performance Commitment TablesTips
(cont.)
  • Categories, Aspects, and Measurement Units are
    standardized. See the Environmental Performance
Table in the back of the instructions.
  • Use the Aspects and Measurement Units that you
submitted with your application. Check that they
are consistent with those in the Environmental
    Performance Table.
  • P-Track On-Line will provide drop-down menus for
the category, aspect, and measurement units.

14
Section C Performance Commitment
TablesNormalizing
  • Normalize to your business activity level in
    baseline year (e.g., production volume).
  • Express normalized data not on a per unit basis,
but at the total (aggregate) level.
  • The normalizing factor shows increases or
decreases in business activity since the baseline
    year.
  • The normalizing factor provides a means to
    highlight real environmental performance changes
    while protecting business-sensitive information
    (e.g., product content).

15
Section C Performance Commitment
TablesNormalizing (cont.)
  • First calculate the normalizing factor, then
    calculate the normalized quantity.
  • See instructions for examples (pages 19, 21, and
    22).
  • P-Track On-Line will calculate the normalized
quantity for you (once you provide the
    normalizing factor).

16
Section C Performance Commitment
TablesPerformance Commitment Quantity
  • When writing your application and determining
    your performance commitments
  • Did you incorporate expected changes in business
levels? Did you, for example, base your
commitment upon projected higher volumes of
    production?
  • No? Then, like most facilities, enter your
performance commitment quantity in the box at the
bottom of the performance commitment column
(where it meets with the Normalized quantity
    row).
  • Yes? Enter your performance commitment quantity
in the box where the Performance commitment
columns meets the Actual quantity row.
Determine your normalizing factor and normalized
    quantity.

17
Section C Performance Commitment
TablesPerformance Commitment Quantity (cont.)
  • Note to members who submitted normalized
    performance commitments!!!
  • The previous slide is totally irrelevant when a
    commitment originally was normalized.
  • If you expressed your performance commitment on a
    normalized, per unit basis, then
  • 1) Multiply your performance commitment by the
total number of units in your baseline year and
    then
  • 2) Enter the resulting number in the box at the
bottom of the performance commitment column
(where it meets with the Normalized quantity
    row).

18
Section C Environmental Performance Commitments
  • Supply data for all of the commitments that you
submitted with your application. If you
experienced any delays or other problems in
achieving progress, provide an explanation under
    question b.
  • Need to substitute a commitment? After
    submitting the annual performance report,
    complete a performance commitment substitution
    form (see www.epa.gov/performancetrack for the
    form).
