  form. Chop off the zeros

• Exponent tiny number in top right hand corner
  means multiply same that many times
• Standard form numbers that are written with all
  the zeros, in full form, exp 55,000,000

• We are going to take that 55,000,000 and write it
  shorter
• Main number has to be between 1 and 10
• 5.5
• this number is called the base
• Have to multiply by 10
• 5.5 X 10
• Have to put an exponent on 10, its the same
  number that we moved the decimal to the left from
  the original number
• 7 called the power
