WebQuest

• Become a pirate on the open seas
• Spy on the explorers
• Research 3 explorers from the following
• Columbus, Cortes, Pizarro, Magellan (select 2)
• and other explorer of your choice
• Report back to the King and Queen
• Create a death warrant for the most Exceptional
  Explorer

Trading Cards

• Research and create 3 trading cards for explorers
• Research 3 explorers from the following
• Columbus, Cortes, Pizarro, Magellan (select 2)
• and other explorer of your choice
• Draw a picture of each explorer
• Draw a map of where each explorer explored

Picture Book

• Research explorers using the same information
  sheet as the trading card group
• Research 3 explorers from the following
• Columbus, Cortes, Pizarro, Magellan (select 2)
• and other explorer of your choice
• Write a story explaining the information and have
  a picture to go with each story (each picture
  should be a full page)
• Your story can be part make believe, but must
  answer the questions posed.

Create a Game

• Make a board game with information about 3
  explorers
• Research 3 explorers from the following
• Columbus, Cortes, Pizarro, Magellan (select 2)
• and other explorer of your choice
• In the game, factual information must be
  presented
• This should be a multi-player game

• Research 3 explorers
• Research 3 explorers from the following
• Columbus, Cortes, Pizarro, Magellan (select 2)
• and other explorer of your choice
• Write a report that details the required
  information for each explorer
• Graphics and pictures may be added

Information to be researched for each project
choice

• Research explorers (including Columbus, Cortez,
  Magellan, Pizarro, select 2)
• Provide biographical information
• Where and when were they born?
• Whose flag did they sail under?
• When did they die?
• Provide maps, or explain, where they sailed and
  explored
• Explain what their life was like on their
  explorations
• Explain what happened when they arrived in the
  Americas (or elsewhere)
• Explain what each explorer is most famous for
• What did they discover?
• What important thing did they do? (bad and good)
• Explain how their explorations impact our society
  today

Requirements/Information

• You make work alone or in pairs
• You must write the kind of project you will be
  doing and turn it in to Mrs. Counihan
• If working in pairs, work must be done equally
• You will complete a self assessment at the end of
  the project
• I will provide you with enough information sheets
  to complete the research for the required 3
  explorers
• Research must be done in class
• You may use textbooks, encyclopedias, library
  books, and the internet to complete your research
• Pictures require color
• Other information must be typed or written neatly
  in blue or black ink
