Training at Kintore Healthy House

• Healthy House is run by the Pintubi Homelands
  Health Clinic at Kintore. It is a learning
  centre for healthy living skills. Waltja has
  used Healthy House to do some training. In 2008
  Ngurra Ninti helped with funding to fit the house
  with steel kitchen benches, a fridge, stove and a
  washing machine. Ngurra Ninti ran three training
  sessions in 2008. The first was in collaboration
  with Gail and Terry from Retram Training. The
  next two were run by Ngurra Ninti with NT Remote
  Health. In 2009 the Waltja programs Ngurra Ninti
  and Mangarri Palya worked together. Here are
  pictures of what we did.

• Cooking healthy food is one of the main living
  skills for a healthy home.
• In 2009 Waltja got funding from Health and Ageing
  to run a community cooking project.
• Ngurra Ninti and Mangarri Palya projects worked
  together to run cooking events.

• After the cooking session Terry from Retram
  showed people how to safely use a drill.
• The room was checked over for anything unsafe
  like power cords or furniture in the way.
• Then Terry, Frances and Norel put up curtain rods
  and a mirror.
