5Lets play a game
Everyone will receive a candle
you will light it.
The light must remain lit
For the flame represents Life.
Try your best to keep it lit
by any means necessary.
6Canada
In this game, each slide represents different
interactions/events and their consequences (for
good or bad) with regards to Canada and the
Global South. As a result of these interactions
you will either have your candle blown out or
will receive matches. When your Candle is blown
out, this represents your suffering, both
physical and economic. You must find a way to
relight your candle.
You live in a wealthy country. Your country is
rich in mineral resources. You have the backing
of a stable government and social infrastructure.
You want to make more money, so you each travel
to another country for BeaverGold and develop a
gold mine.
You may use your match to light someone elses
candle, but not your flame!
The South
Your country is rich in mineral resources, but
the majority of the people in your country do not
benefit from this. You live in poverty. The
government does not always protect your
interests. You have only a few matches.
