Nutritional Labeling
  • The US has two primary nutritional problems
  • They affect the health of children, teens, and
    adults
  • Problem 1 consuming too many calories
  • Problem 2 not getting enough exercise
  • Use the NEW food label to keep track of the
    calories that you eat

Percent Daily Value
  • DV describes the percentage of your daily
    calories that should come from carbs, fats,
    proteins based on a 2,000 calorie diet.

    sodium look for low DV
  • Dietary fiber, vitamins, calcium, and iron look
    for high DV
