Introduction

• This slideshow is about Christopher Columbus
  and his voyage to America. I hope that from this
  slideshow, you can understand the importance of
  Columbus and how hard it was for him.

Ships

• One ship that Christopher Columbus sailed
  was the Nina which he used to find the British
  Virgin Islands. He found the British Virgin
  Islands in 1493.Another ship he sailed was the
  Pinta. He crossed the Atlantic ocean for the
  first time in that ship. The last ship he used on
  his journeys was the Santa Maria. Some say it
  weighed 100 tons!!

Life aboard the ships

• Life aboard the ship was not very easy for
  Columbus crew. They ate salted meat, dried peas,
  cheese, wine, and fresh fish. Most crew members
  died from diseases, hunger, and dehydration. They
  all worked for four hour shifts. During the four
  hours, they cleaned the deck, worked the sails,
  checked the cargo, and checked the ropes. Today,
  out lives are a bit easier.

The voyages

• On August 3rd, 1942, Columbus left Palos with
  three ships. The Santa Maria, Pinta, and the
  Nina. Two months and nine days later, he reached
  what he called, San Salvador(Today it is, The
  Bahamas). He reached that land at two o clock in
  the morning. The natives there were very

Discoveries

• Christopher discovered America . If he hadn't
  made his marvelous discovery, us, the American
  citizens, wouldnt be living here, in America
  today! He was trying to sail from Italy to Asia
  by using a different route, by boat. Instead of
  finding Asia, he found a new land that he thought
  was Asia. He finally figured out that he didnt
  find Asia, but a new land.

Successes and failures

• Though Christopher did find a new and
  undiscovered land, he was in trouble. When he
  made it home, he was arrested because he never
  found any gold
