Poverty Awareness
The adult shelter in Brunswick supported by
Tedford Housing, an organization that helps
people get on their feet again.
The cast of the Maine Council of Churches Hear
our Stories, Know our Names, a drama that
challenges the audience to see the homeless as
people.
We designed this project in attempts to spread
awareness among high school students about the
poverty that exists in Maine, and the
organization whose mission it is to address this
need. We hoped to inspire the students to take
action and volunteer in our community.
Our panel discussion between representatives from
Maine Council of Churches, Tedford Housing, and
students at Brunswick High School. Topics covered
included poverty in Maine, political activism,
resources available to the homeless, and
prejudice.
