Title: CCBOE Credit Recovery Student Orientation

1
CCBOE Credit Recovery Student Orientation
  • This is your chance to
  • graduate ON TIME!

2
What is Credit Recovery?
  • An opportunity to recover 0.5 credit in a core
area course that you have previously failed
  • Classes are entirely on-line through GaVirtual
    School Credit Recovery.
  • This allows you to demonstrate the knowledge you
have and only work on the parts of the curriculum
    you have not mastered.

3
How does it work?www.gavirtualschool.org
  • You will take a pre-test for each unit. THE
PRETEST MUST BE TAKEN AT GHS! Your score dictates
how much work is required for each unit.
  • 85-100 Pretest Go straight to the posttest
  • Below 85 Do all work, lessons,
    quizzes and then
  • posttest
  • You will take a post-test for each unit and pass
it before attempting the next unit. THE POSTTEST
MUST BE TAKEN AT GHS! You must complete and pass
all units in addition to the final exam.
  • Your final exam or EOCT will be 15 of your final
grade. THE FINAL OR EOCT MUST BE TAKEN AT GHS!

4
Posttests
  • Your grade average comes entirely from your
posttests and final exam, not from your
    assignments and quizzes.
  • You have up to three attempts to pass each
    posttest.
  • If you pass the first time, do not try to retake
and raise your score. The test will be different,
and your score may drop. The last test taken is
    the grade that counts.
  • If you fail a posttest three times, you will be
locked out of continuing the course. Contact your
Graduation Coach by e-mail for further
    instructions.

5
Proctoring and HELP
  • A Graduation Coach will be available for test
  • proctoring Monday through Thursday

Greenbrier High School in Lab 307.
  • July 10- 800 am- noon will be reserved for final
exams. Students taking EOCTs will be provided
    information for their specific course.
  • In addition, you may also attend HELP sessions at
GHS for subject-specific questions. The classes
are offered at the following times
  • LA- 850-950
  • Math- 850-1055
  • Science- 955-1200
  • SS- 1100-105

IMPORTANT
  • There is no teacher associated with your on-line
class, only a facilitator to assist with
technical issues and monitor course and student
    integrity.
  • YOU must pace yourself. It is your responsibility
to complete the course in the designated time
    frame.
  • Share log-in information with your parent. It is
your responsibility to monitor grades and share
    those grades with parents.
  • If you choose to take any test at a location
other than GHS, the score will be invalidated and
you risk not receiving credit for the class.

7
What is expected of me?
  • Keep a notebook or portfolio dedicated to your
    on-line class.
  • The course units must be completed by the last
Thursday of summer school which is July 9th.
  • EOCTs will be given July 10th. IF YOU CANNOT
TAKE THE REQUIRED EOCT ON THAT DATE, DO NOT
REGISTER FOR THE COURSE! THERE WILL BE NO
    EXCEPTIONS!
  • All final exams MUST be taken in the presence of
a proctor. Finals can be taken at any Monday
through Thursday proctored session at GHS between
June 1 and July 10. However, the last day to take
an exam is July 10. THERE WILL BE NO EXCEPTIONS!

proctored exams, DO NOT register for a CR course.
  • If you fail a test and need a reset, it is YOUR
responsibility to e-mail your graduation coach.
Resets are done at the students request, not
    automatically.
  • If your course is an EOCT course, you MUST take
the exam on July 10th at a time assigned to you.
