Legislative Powers

• The State of the Union addresses Congress on what
  the President feels needs to be done in the
  upcoming year.
• The President also sends a budget plan to
  Congress.
• The President may sign or veto bills to become
  laws.

Legislative Powers

• A bill can become a law if the President doesnt
  act on it for ten days.
• If Congress recesses before the ten days are up
  it can become a pocket veto.
• The Presidential veto can be overturned by a 2/3
  vote of each house of Congress.
• Line-item vetoes have been considered
  unconstitutional.

Judicial Powers

• The President can grant reprieves and pardons.
• Can be used only in Federal cases.
• The person must accept the pardon.
• The President can reduce the length of a sentence
  also.
• Amnesty can also be granted to a group of people.
