The Transition from Grade 8 to 9
  • Our goal is to help grade 8s make a smooth start
    to high school. To help ease the transition we
    have planned the following events
  • Programming Sessions with middle school students
  • Electives Tour of Charles Best
  • Articulation meetings with teachers and students
    services at middle schools
  • Best Buddies Orientation Program

Transition Visits to Middle Schools
  • Hillcrest Monday Feb 9th _at_ 1000
  • Banting Tuesday Feb 10th _at_ 1000
  • Monty Tuesday Feb 10th _at_ 1000
  • Como Lake Thursday Feb 12th _at_ 900
  • Maillard Thursday Feb 12th _at_ 100

TransitionGrade 9 Orientation Program
  • Grade 10, 11 and 12 exceptional students are
    trained to mentor grade 9s as their Best Buddies
  • Each grade 9 student will be assigned to a team
    of 12 grade 9s and 2 buddy leaders
  • Grade 9s will receive info from the school in
    August
  • Grade 9s will receive a phone call inviting them
    to Grade 9 Orientation Day
  • On Thursday, September 3, only grade 9s come to
    school for a ½ day orientation of the school with
    their buddy leaders.
  • Ongoing communication teambuilding throughout
    the year.

Cross Boundary
  • Cross-catchment forms for Grades 1-12 will be
    available online as of 900 a.m. February 12,
    2009.
  • Submission deadline is March 13, 2009. Parents
    will be encouraged to complete this form
    electronically. Paper forms will still be
    accepted but only at the school board office in
    person or by mail. Where space is limited, date
    and time of application will determine priority.
    Parents will be informed of decisions in early
    April.
