Culture of Poverty

• Individuals are responsible for their own culture
  and socializing their children into poverty
• Disorganized and pathological lower class
• Disintegration of the nuclear family

Macro-structural Theories

• Poverty is produced by the unequal distribution
  of resources in society and Inequalities in
  opportunity
• Underclass population with limited social
  mobility due to economic subordination
• Economic and social isolation communities that
  see a decline in home values, schools,
  businesses, and job opportunites
• Spatial mismatch employment opportunities for
  low-income people are located far away from the
