Sounds and Transitions

• Add narration. Go to Insert and select Movies
  and Sounds. From the fly-out menu select Record
  Sound. Youll need a microphone for this.
• Go to Slide Show and select Slide Transitions.
  Choose the transitions that you like best.

Background Colors

• To change the background color of a slide,
  right-click the slide and select Background.
• The default selection is white. To select
  another color, click the dropdown arrow.
• You may select More Colors or Fill Effects to add
  texture, gradients, etc.
• To make all the slide the same background, select
  Apply to All.

Slide Design

• To select a design theme for your slide show, go
  to Format and Select Slide Design.
• Keep in mind that the slide design you select
  will change the format of your slides.
• You will need to tweak your slides a bit after
  you select your slide design.

Continuous Loop

• Select Slide Show, then Set Up Show.
• In the Show options section select the Loop
  continuously until Esc box.
• Now your slide show will play over and over until
  you hit the Esc key, located in the upper left
  corner of your keyboard.
• You may set all your slides to advance
  automatically after a few seconds or select a
  specific time for each slide to advance.
• Another option is to have your viewer advance
  each slide with the click of a mouse.

Slide Transitions

• There are times you may want your slides to
  change automatically.
• Select Slide Show and then Slide Transition.
• On the right side of your screen will be a
  window.
• Find Advance slide and select the Automatically
  after box.
• Insert the number of seconds you want your slide
  to show.
• Select Apply to All Slides.

Adding Graphics

• Nothing adds interest like an animated gif, so
  include a few in your presentation. (See next
  slide for resources.)
• Use the Microsoft clipart as well. Go to Insert
  and select Picture. From the dropdown menu
  select Clipart. To find an image quickly, type
  the name of the image you want in the window
  located on the right side of your screen and
  click the Search button.

Animated Gifs

• Nothing adds interest more than a moving image.
• The hard part is finding them on the Internet.
• Use your skills to find a few animated images
  online and include them in your presentation.

Action Buttons

• Action buttons help the viewer especially the
  very young - navigate.
• Go to the View menu, select Toolbars, then Draw.
• Select AutoShapes, then Action Buttons.
• Insert the Back and Forward buttons into your
  slide, just like the buttons below.

Create Rubrics Fast

• Rubrics are evaluation tools that should yield
  the same results when used by others.
• Well-designed rubrics tell students exactly what
  they need to do in order to achieve the results
  teacher wants.
• Go to Rubistar and fill in the blanks to create
  rubrics.

Assignment

• Create a slideshow that addresses child safety on
  the Internet and the responsibility of parents
  and teachers to monitor children online. List 10
  rules.
• Add slide transitions, background colors, sound,
  navigation buttons, animated gifs,and continuous
  loop features to your presentation.
• Set up your slide show so that the slides advance
  manually with a mouse click or automatically
  after a few seconds.
• Work in teams of two to complete this task.

Helpful Hints

• Divide your workload.
• One person can work on compiling the safety tips
  while the other learns how to insert action
  buttons, sound, and create slide transitions.
• Swap information when assembling the project.
• This is a good example of collaborative learning.
• Cite TPEs and content standards.
