• Now logins are aligned to the individual

• About 100 MB per person
• 99 and 44/100 private
• Multiple logins allowed
• No need to carry extra disks or special storage

• Accessible from home with special free software
  installation

• Automatic Free Web Space
• Everyone has an automatic, already resident,
  free web presence in their NetID space, ready
  to be turned into a web page or used to transfer
  files
• This free space is the www folder
• Only the actual contents of the www folder are
  accessible via the internet
• All other content inside the NetID space, but
  outside the www folder is private

Note in Windows XP, the Idrive is
namedyourusername on administrative homes and
profiles

How the www folder Works

• It works in two distinct ways
• 1) As a website
• Place an index.htm file directly into the www
  folder and it will only display that file because
  the folder is specially web-enabled by IT
  Services
• This works because in the language of html,
  without exception, all webs must have a homepage
  named index
• web browsers know to look for this file first

• 2) As a file transfer vehicle
• Without an index file, the www folder will be
  accessible by others, who can download
  everything--whatever is in the folder
• Place only files and folders into the www folder
  that you want to share!
• Do not place confidential or sensitive documents
  in the www folder!
