The IliadBook 2
  • By Rachel G.

2
Plot Summary
  • Zeus sends a bad dream, disguised as Nestor, to
King Agamemnon because he wants the Trojans to
win, but he wants to shower Achilles with glory.
  • King Agamemnon held a council of the Elders to
propose his plan of testing his troops.
  • King Agamemnon, to test the courage of his
troops, tells them that they are giving up the
war and to his dismay they run towards their
    ships.
  • The warriors willingness to leave so easily
showed how dire the Greek situation had become,
King Agamemnon did not realize how low the morale
was, and it indirectly led to the cataloging of
the troops which eventually bonded them together.
  • When Athena hears about this she inspires
Odysseus to encourage the troops to stay and
    fight.

3
Plot Summary, cont.

Warriors by city and clan so they can fight along
side of their friends and family members.
  • King Agamemnon sends out criers to declare battle
    and the troops are assembled.
  • King Agamemnon catalogs the troops by armies,
    cities, and leaders.
