What is Badger Boys Girls State?

• The Girls session will be held at UW Oshkosh from
  June 15- 20th, 2008
• The Boys session will be held June 14th-21st at
  Ripon College
• It is designed to give the participants a better
  understanding of the American form of government
  and its democratic principles.
• You will learn by doing Each participant will
  participate in the creation of the 51st State

What about the application process?

• 1st step Complete the application by Feb. 22nd
• (Make sure to ask your classroom teachers to be a
  recommendation)
• 2nd step Your teachers will complete a survey
  scoring you
• 3rd Step 3 Boys and 3 Girls will be selected 1
  alternate will be selected
• Last The selected delegates will attend an
  orientation (informational meeting).

Who is eligible?

• Be enrolled your junior year in high school
• Be a citizen of the United States
• Have an interest in government and citizenship
• Be a good student
• Have leadership qualities, good moral character,
  cooperativeness, dependability
• and willingness to participate

How much does it cost?

• Scholarships are awarded to those students who
  have been selected by ONHS
• The scholarship covers the cost of food and
  housing during the session
• These scholarships are awarded by The American
  Legion, American Legion Auxillary, and ONHS
  Student Council

Why should I apply?

• Learn about our system of government
• Further develop your leadership skills
• Meet students from around WI (700 girls, 850
  boys)
• If selected, you will represent Oshkosh North
  High School
