The Delivery System for Community Sport
How does it link together?
Local Area Agreement
3
The Delivery System has 2 specific aims
  • To increase the number of people taking part in
sport especially amongst the hard to reach
    groups.
  • To build clear pathways for people with sporting
talent to enable them to reach their potential.

4
County Sports Partnerships
  • CSPs are partnerships of agencies committed to
providing a high quality delivery system in their
    area.
  • They provide strategic co-ordination planning
for sport in their geographical area.
  • This strategic planning is primarily focussed on
delivering the Community Sport and School Sport
    PSA.
  • They also have key responsibilities for
    performance measurement, collecting data,
marketing and communication, raising the profile
of sport, and attracting inward investment for
    sustained delivery.

PESSCL PSA Targets
  • Enhance the take-up of sporting opportunities by
five- to sixteen-year-olds by increasing the
percentage of school children who spend a minimum
of two hours each week on high quality PE and
school sport within and beyond the curriculum
    from 25 in 2002 to 75 in 2006 and 85 by 2008
  • PSA for 2006 was 80 nationally
  • PSA for 2007 was 86 nationally
  • Within Every Child Matters is the ambition of
offering all children at least 4 hours of sport
every week, comprised of at least 2 hours high
quality PE and school sport with the opportunity
for at least a further 2-3 hours beyond the
school day (delivered by a range of school,
    community and club providers).

  • PSA 22 Deliver a successful Olympic games and
paralympic games with a sustainable legacy and

  • For 5-16 year olds the offer will be made up of 2
    hours high quality PE and
  • 3 hours of sport beyond the curriculum delivered
    through a range of school,
  • community and club providers.
  • The additional funding for the first time
formally extends the reach of the strategy to
  • 16-19 year olds. For this age group the offer is
3 hours of sport, rather than 5, unless
  • they are studying sport.
