- Social and emotional learning (SEL) helps us
acquire the skills to - recognize and manage emotions,
- develop caring and concern for others,
- establish positive relationships,
- make responsible decisions, and
- handle challenging situations effectively.
4Childrens Mental Health Act of 2003
- Schools became responsible for
- Developing a policy for incorporating social and
emotional development into the districts
educational program. - Teaching and assessing social and emotional
skills based on the Illinois Social Emotional
Learning Standards. - Developing protocols to respond to children with
social, emotional, or mental health problems.
