Title: Combining Data From More Than One BOA Universe
1Combining Data From More Than One BOA Universe
2This is a regular BOA report for AF employees
3But if you wanted to combine data from other
universes youd have to insert the data from
those universes into a single report
4- There are downsides
- There is a greater dependence on variables
- The report is not a true combination, but a
co-habitation of data - Manipulating data using the co-habited data is
harder - You really have to pay attention to what youre
doing this is not for the inexperienced - Other than these caveats this is a neat feature
5Click Data
6The report dialog box opens but there are other
options
7The universe selections begin as they normally do
8Select the other universes you want to get data
from
9After selecting the Local National Universe the
data classes open normally
10Select your fields and conditions and as you
normally would
Then run the query
11In this case were running data from three
universes
12The original query is still there
The data elements from the other universes are
also present
13Create a new report tab for the NAF data
14Creating a new report tab and creating the report
in the new tab shows only the NAF data
15This is the Local National Data
16If you want to edit the data provider
This box opens and asks which query you want to
edit. Because we opened three universes, there
are three queries
17By selecting query 1 that has the AF data
classes, the AF universe opens and you can edit
the query normally
18You can also open the NAF universe by selecting
the query that corresponds to the NAF universe
19To get a summary a variable is created to SUM
the three queries into one total
20Right click and a box opens to create a new
variable
21Name the variable (in this case POP)
22BOA's variable editor is like Excel
23Build the formula
24Then drag the new variable onto the report page
