What is Yahoo Pipes?

• Pipes is a free online service that lets you
  remix popular feed types and create data mashups
  using a visual editor
• Beta version released in February 2007 by Yahoo
• Named after Unix Pipes

Pipes Editor

• Pipes are created using an AJAX enabled
  javaScript authoring tool called the Pipes
  Editor
• Consists of three panes
• Library Pane
• Canvas Pane
• Debugger Pane

Building a Pipe

• Drag pre-configured modules onto the canvas and
  wire them together
• Each Pipe consists of two or more modules, each
  of which perform a specific task
• Each module has one or more terminals that link
  output to input
• Modules are finally linked to an output module to
  create the pipe

Pipe Features

• Accepts many inputs outputs
• RSS, ATOM, JSON, XML
• Connect Pipes to other Pipes
• Take in user input (via form fields)
• Annotate items (geocode data)
