Title: Strategy for Sharing Jesus

1
Strategy for Sharing Jesus
  • By Trevor Forbes
  • Associate Treasurer and
  • Personal Ministries Director
  • Atlantic Union Conference

2
  • Our Desire to reach souls for Christ should be a
part of our agenda in life. I can still
remember when I accepted Christ as my Lord. I
had a warm feeling I was in love and am still in
love with that man, who loves us so much that He
was willing to be beaten, spat upon, and abused
in other degrading ways, just to ensure our
    salvation from sin.

3
  • Sin is deadly, and will prevent our entrance into
heaven, where we will see and be with Jesus. Our
great desire should be to live in heaven with
Jesus, and to invite others to be there too.

4
Love Souls as Jesus did
  • We are called upon to love souls as Christ loved
them, to feel a travail of souls that sinners
shall be converted. Present the matchless love of
Christ. Hide self out of sight.
  • Ellen G. White, Evangelism, p.431.

5
  • As we understand the importance of every soul,
how can we not witness for Jesus? Before we
witness, however, we must be sure what we are
communicating to the sinner, and why he need to
know. We can start by reviewing our excitement of
knowing that we belong to one who loves us
whether we are bad or good. God loves everyone,
but , of course, only those who accept His love
and offer of salvation can be saved.

6
Change Agent
  • Jesus reminds that we need to be His change agent
in witnessing to sinners. When we witness, we
will not be alone for the Holy Spirit is our
    partner in witnessing.

7
Stewards
  • When God saves us, we become stewards of the
precious saving word of God. Paul said
Moreover it is required in stewards that
one be found faithful. I Corinthians 42

8
  • Paul also said For though I am free from
all men, I have made myself a servant to all,
that I might win more. I Corinthians
    919

9
Reconcilers
  • As stewards we are reconcilers. Paul said in
    2 Corinthians. 518,19
  • Now all things are of God, who has reconciled
us to Himself through Jesus Christ, and has given
us the ministry of reconciliation, that is, that
God was in Christ reconciling the world to
Himself, not imputing their trespasses to them,
and has committed to us the word of
    reconciliation.

10
Our Real Life Work
  • Make ready, my brother for the Master to demand
your talents, both principal and interest! To
save souls should be the life work of everyone
who professes Christ. We are debtors to the
world for the grace given us of God, for the
light which has shone upon us, and for discovered
beauty and power of the truth.
  • E.G. White, 4T, 53.

11
  • Gods people are called upon to use all assets
at their disposal to witness to souls for the
    kingdom.

12
There is Joy in Serving
  • The weight of the wrath of God will fall upon
those who have misspent their time and served
mammon instead of their creator. If you live for
God and heaven, pointing out the way to life to
others, you will go onward and upward to higher
and holier joys, you will be rewarded with the
well done, thou good and faithful servant enter
into the joy of the Lord. The joy of Christ was
that of seeing souls redeemed and saved in His
    glorious kingdom. E.G.White, 4T, 54

13
Share about Jesus
  • And daily in the Temple, and in every house
they did not cease teaching and preaching Jesus
    as the Christ. Acts 542

14
Relationship
  • Soul winning must be seeing as a process rather
than a single event. Therefore, one should build
relationship which has as one of its goal to
engender trust in the Bible worker. People are
    generally distrustful of religious workers
because they believe that when they accept Jesus,
they are losing their freedom. The closer you
are to the interest, the more likely they will
feel free to allow you to witness to them.

15
Relationship
  • Jesus uses a method we all can imitate.
  • Christs method alone will give true
success in reaching the people. The Savior
mingled with men, as one who desired their good.
He showed His sympathy for them, ministered to
their needs, and won their confidence, Then He
bade them, follow me. MH, 143

16
Relationship
  • Let us see a brief overview of how to
relate to people. Jard Deville listed three
    steps to establishing relationship.
  • Relate in love and compassion. We must show
genuine interest in people, and show compassion
and caring. We must identify or empathize with
people so they can feel and experience that we
represent someone who will not take advantage of
    them.

17
Relationship
  • Recognize how they see their needs. We must
relate warmly to peoples need, and let them know
that we see their need as they see them. We must
earn the rights to ask people to commit their
    lives to Jesus.

18
Relationship
  • Recommend a solution which makes sense.
  • Its only after you lovingly learned a
persons needs and supported them in the
relationship, you earn the right to recommend a
solution to lifes problem which will be of
    interest to the person.

19
Get Started With F.O.R.T.
  • F Family
  • O Occupation
  • R Religion
  • T Testimony
  • There is a method to start witnessing to a
  • person which have proven useful. When speaking
to an interest, you can use F.O.R.T.

20
Get Started With F.O.R.T.
  • Speak about the persons family positively.
One could ask, Is this your son in that photo?
He looks sharp in that uniform!

21
Get Started With F.O.R.T.
  • Next talk about the persons occupation. One
could say I would love to hear a little about
    your job.
  • Then, you could talk about a persons religion.
You could ask, Do you attend the church I
    passed on my way here?
  • Next, you could tell your testimony of how you
were before you became a Christian how God has
changed your life now, and how He is affecting
    your future life.

22
Getting Started with F.O.R.T.
  • F.O.R.T. should not take but a few minutes to
present. One can use this acronym in any order.
It is not necessary to start with F, one could
    start with T.

23
Present a Salvation Plan for the Sinner
  • One of the first thing a person should be told is
    why we need Jesus.
  • We need Jesus because we all are sinners.
  • For all have sinned and fall short of
  • the glory of God. Romans 323

24
Present a Salvation Plan
  • Emphasize that sin leads to death, but God gives
    reward to the faithful.
  • For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of
God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.
    Romans 623

25
Present a Salvation Plan
  • Show that God Seeks out the Sinner and offer
    grace.
  • Behold, I stand at the door and knock.
If anyone hears my voice and opens the door, I
will come and dine with him, and he with Me.
    Revelation 320

26
The Prayer of F.A.T.E.
  • F Father forgive me of my sins.
  • A I accept Jesus Christ as my personal Lord and
    Savior.
  • T Thank you Jesus for your life, death, and

    resurrection for me.
  • E I receive the free gift of eternal life in
    Jesus name.

27
The Prayer of F.A.T.E.
  • This is known also as the sinners prayer. It
can be used to lead a person to make a commitment
    to Jesus.

28
Daily Life Tells Much
  • A unique cheerfulness,
  • tenderness, Christian benevolence, patience,
and love will melt away prejudice, and open the
heart to the reception of the truth. Few
understand the power of these precious
    influences.
  • E.G. White, Evangelism, p. 543

29
The Way of the Cross Leads Home
  • Glenn Coon, in his book, Path To The Heart, told
the story of a little girl lost in London and
stood at the corner crying. A London police
officer came to her and asked her what was her
last name. The little girl didnt know. What
street do you live on? he asked. I dont
know cried the frightened little girl.

30
The Way of the Cross Leads Home
  • The police officer had an idea. There was a
great big church steeple with a cross on top of
it on the church nearby. He asked the little
girl, Can you see that church from your house?
The little girls eyes lit up and she excitedly
said, Yes! Take me to the cross! I can get home
    from there!

31
The Way of the Cross Leads Home
  • Our precious job is first to lead
  • people to the cross! They can
  • get home from there!
  • Emphasize the Cross of Jesus for there is power
in the precious blood of Jesus.
  • Talk about the benefits of surrendering our
    lives to Jesus.
